When Do You Want To Go?

Introduction

This 14-day holiday is perfect for those wanting to explore the natural wonders of Western Australia, soaking up the spectacular views, delicious produce and breath-taking wildlife encounters on offer here.

From the cosmopolitan city of Perth to the rolling hills and vineyards of Margaret River, the coastal delights of Albany to the underwater paradise of the North West Cape’s Muiron Islands.

Day-by-Day

Day 1 & 2: Perth

The scenic and sophisticated city of Perth is renowned for its abundant sunshine and relaxed lifestyle. Spend your first two nights exploring the nearby sandy beaches, magnificent colonial architecture, art galleries, cafes, and excellent shopping, then enjoy dining alfresco in the many restaurants that line the Riverside. On day two, a full day tour to Rottnest Island reveals the diverse wildlife and fauna found here, set in a spectacular location with incredible views.

Day 3: Perth to Bunbury

After collecting your rental car, head south out of the city, stopping at the eclectic and arty town of Freemantle, 'Freo' to the locals, for a coffee in one of its trendy cafes on Cappuccino strip. Continue towards Bunbury, a port city known for its wild but friendly bottlenose dolphin visitors that greet you along the shoreline.

Day 4: Bunbury to Margaret River

On the way to Margaret River, stop off in Western Australia’s premier seaside resort town of Busselton, where a peaceful stroll down the historic jetty leads you to the underwater observatory. Continue along the stunning coastline, exploring your pick of the many beaches, trails, surf spots and caves that this area has to offer, not to mention the fantastic wineries and food producers, including the Margaret River Chocolate Factory! In the evening, enjoy a mesmerising twilight didgeridoo performance inside Ngilgi Cave.

Day 5: Margaret River

Take a full day tour of picturesque Margaret River, visiting some of the region’s best wineries and producers. Enjoy three cellar door wine tastings and lunch at a local brewery.

Day 6: Margaret River to Albany

Today’s drive is approximately 4 hours, but it’s worth breaking up the journey with a stop at the forested areas and farmlands surrounding Manjimup, where ‘Pink Lady’ apples were developed. You can visit a local truffiere and join a truffle hunt from June to August. Continue to Albany, where almost two centuries of history can be discovered on a 30-minute self-guided walk following the Amity Trail.

Day 7: Albany

Today is free to explore the area, perhaps visit the state-of-the-art interactive displays at the National Anzac Centre, or take the short drive to Two Peoples Bay to visit the crystal clear turquoise waters and white sands of Little Beach.

Day 8: Albany to Katanning

Leaving the coast behind, head north towards the beautifully biodiverse and heritage listed Stirling Range National Park and the vineyards of Frankland Wine Region. Arrive into Katanning, a town with a rich colonial heritage and many claims to fame, including the first town to have electric street lights and an inland swimming pool! It’s also home to the country's largest undercover sheep saleyard.

Day 9: Katanning to Perth

Today’s drive takes you north along the Great Southern Highway, then through the town of Williams and onwards to Perth. In the afternoon, you might like to head to Cottesloe Beach for a swim in the still waters of the Indian Ocean or perhaps discover the laneway bars of multicultural Northbridge.

Day 10: North West Cape

Return the rental car to the airport and catch your flight to Exmouth for a 3-night stay in the North West Cape. The Gateway to the spectacular underwater paradise of Ningaloo Marine Park and the wildlife abundant Cape Range National Park.

Day 11: North West Cape - Muiron Islands

From your Exmouth base, take a full day snorkel tour to the Muiron Islands, where swim-throughs and ledges provide excellent snorkelling territory with the chance to see turtles, nurse sharks, coral gardens and thousands of brightly coloured darting coral fish. On the 45-minute boat ride to the islands, you may spot dolphins, dugongs and humpback whales during migration.

Day 12: North West Cape - Cape Range National Park

Today’s full day tour is a unique nature-based experience showcasing the beauty of Cape Range National Park. Explore the incredible biodiversity, from rugged canyons, beautiful beaches and tranquil creeks. Take a 4WD ride through deserted tracks of the Cape Range, visit the serene Yardie Creek and panoramic Vlamingh Head Lighthouse, before returning to Exmouth.

Day 13: Perth

After the flight back to Perth, transfer to your hotel to enjoy the final night in the city.

Day 14: Departure

Transfer to the airport for your return flight to home.
